WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A Warwick man arrested by the FBI Thursday night has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to an Islamic State terror group, U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz announced Friday.
Nicholas Rovinski appeared before a judge Friday and was ordered held without bail until a probable cause hearing next Friday.
If Rovinski is convicted, the judge said the maximum penalty against him would be 15 years in prison and supervised release for life.
Rovinski, 24, was taken into custody Thursday night at a home on Aspinet Drive.
David Wright, 25, of Everett, Mass., faces the same conspiracy charge. He was arrested June 3.
Prosecutors say Rovinski and Wright met on Facebook — and conspired with Usaamah Rahim to commit attacks and kill individuals in the United States, believing it would support ISIS’s objectives.
Rahim, 26, was shot and killed by police in Roslindale after investigators said he lunged at them with a knife.
The affidavit states the three men intended to behead a person referred to as “Indented Victim-1,” who was later determined by police to be political activist Pamela Geller. It goes on to say Rahim and Wright picked Rovinski up at his home on May 31 and drove to a nearby beach to discuss their plot.
Two days later, it’s alleged that Rahim called Wright and informed him of a change in plans, instead aiming to attack “those boys in blue,” referring to police. It was at this time Rahim was under 24-hour surveillance by terror investigators.
Prosecutors said Rovinski told agents he feels that non-violent Muslims are not true Muslims and that he “feels he is ‘at war’ with those who oppose ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and will not submit to the establishment of an Islamic State in the United States.”
Federal documents allege that Rovinski said “this country is messed up from its founding days,” to Wright during a phone call.
According to the government, Rovinski allegedly favorited a YouTube video about the construction of a machete — he also allegedly uploaded or favorited videos about making weapons. Prosecutors also say Rovinski celebrated American deaths — specifically the deadly Philadelphia Amtrak derailment.
Officials say Rovinski goes by Nuh al Andalusi, while Wright goes by Dawud Sharif Abdul Khaliq. Rovinski reportedly converted to Islam two years ago, having been previously self-described as Agnostic.

1. a terrorist
2. a spokesman for terrorists
or 3. a radio host
Rubinsky isnt a threat just a misguided jewboy.
